Week One Kick-Off
The RoboColts and CyberColts are buzzing with ideas as we dive into this year's BIOBUZZ challenge!
This week, our teams focused on understanding the game, exploring robot designs, and developing strategies for the season ahead. Students worked together to brainstorm creative solutions, evaluate different approaches, and identify which robot functions will be most important for competition.
We also began breaking into smaller groups to explore the different sides of robotics, including mechanical design, programming, CAD, and prototyping. Our mentors introduced their areas of expertise and helped students begin turning big ideas into achievable plans.
Safety and teamwork were another important focus. Students reviewed workshop and competition safety expectations and discussed Gracious Professionalism, the FIRST principle of competing with kindness, helping others, and showing respect both on and off the field.
Our outreach team also found a new home for some of our extra cardboard, donating it to the freshman class for their homecoming float!
Up next: It's time to start bringing our ideas to life! Our teams will begin prototyping, working on their drivetrains, and testing early designs as we take our first steps toward building this season's robots.
Stay tuned for more updates as the RoboColts and CyberColts get to work! 🐝
